New "Green" Building
Vegas PBS is completing and equipping a new campus in conjunction with the Clark County School District at the corner of Flamingo Road and McLeod Drive. The Educational Technology Campus will be submitted for LEED Gold Certification and will be one of the most energy efficient, sustainability designed and environmentally friendly complexes anywhere.

“Over the past 40 years, Vegas PBS has grown into ‘so much more’ than just a public television station,” said Tom Axtell, Vegas PBS general manager. “As we have expanded our scope, it has become very evident that our current facility was not designed to support all that Vegas PBS does. From assisting our teachers in the classroom to notifying local emergency response agencies, there is no doubt we need a new facility to appropriately service the Southern Nevada community.”

| Designed by well-known firm JMA Architecture Studios, it is expected to exceed energy savings of nearly 35 percent above existing building codes. Nevada Power Company has supplied solar panels for the campus. |

About the Educational Technology Campus
|
The Educational Technology Campus is a state-of-the-art capital project that is one of the most environmentally conscious facilities in the nation with cutting-edge geothermal and solar energy capabilities. This facility will house the Clark County School District’s Virtual High School and Educational Media Center, Homeland Security and Emergency Response support system and all Vegas PBS departments. The campus will offer a data repository for state and county emergency communications and will be built with various materials and techniques that meet LEED standards for sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, waste management, recycling and indoor environment quality. Vegas PBS intends to pursue a LEED Gold Certification for the campus.

About the Vegas PBS Capital Campaign

To address the need for an appropriate facility to service the community, Vegas PBS expanded the capital campaign announced in 2000 to secure funding for DTV equipment as mandated by the FCC. The new equipment and building campaign has a goal of $64,700,000. The new Educational Technology Campus is a public/private partnership. The Clark County School District will provide land for the Virtual High School portion of the complex.
Vegas PBS and private gifts will fund the balance of the campus construction as well as equipment for public television, CCSD educational media and CCSD Virtual High School classrooms through an innovative capital campaign. The capital campaign will match private donations with funds secured from spectrum leasing agreements, manufacturer displays, demonstration projects and competitive grants.
When completed, the Educational Technology Campus will be funded in equal thirds by private gifts, corporate and foundation grants, and entrepreneurial and demonstration projects. Portions of the new facilities will be named for major donors.
