Vegas PBS announced today it now offers Praxis testing at the computer lab located in the Vegas PBS Educational Technology Campus. Praxis tests measure the academic skills and subject-specific content knowledge needed for teaching. The tests are taken by individuals entering the teaching profession as part of the certification process required by many states and professional licensing organizations.
“Vegas PBS is excited to offer Praxis tests complimenting the Clark County School District’s Focus 2024 goal of giving all students access to a quality, highly effective teacher,” said Vegas PBS General Manager Tom Axtell. “The computer testing lab allows future teachers to test during times that meet the needs of their schedules, including evenings and weekends. Praxis testing is an important addition to Vegas PBS’ educational services available to Southern Nevadans.”
Vegas PBS’ Praxis testing aligns with Superintendent Jara’s Focus 2024 objectives by qualifying more teachers to receive their licensure and enter the classroom. Additionally, the testing promotes employee morale, engagement, and retention by establishing a foundation of qualified peers and giving interested professionals the opportunity become licensed or advance in their career on their schedule including nights and weekends. The rigorous testing positively benefits the perception of the district by ensuring high-quality teachers are in CCSD classrooms.
