Vegas PBS is proud to announce the world premiere of locally produced documentary, “The Showgirl: A Las Vegas Icon.” The documentary gives viewers an inside look at the entertainers who have become synonymous with the glitz and glamor of Las Vegas around the world. “The Showgirl: A Las Vegas Icon” will premiere Monday, September 14, 2020 at 8 p.m. and will rebroadcast Friday, September 25, 2020 at 9 p.m.

This local production featuring former showgirls and Las Vegas Strip headliners reveals the glamorous history of the iconic, yet now rare, symbol of Las Vegas show business. The Las Vegas Showgirl is like a beautiful, giant, sparkling bird flaunting fabulous feathers, but she is much more than that. On stage, she’s an icon who represents Las Vegas to the world. Off stage, she’s an ordinary person living an extraordinary life. “The Showgirl: A Las Vegas Icon” tells her compelling story.

To celebrate the premiere of this can’t-miss documentary, Vegas PBS is holding two special events to supplement the show. Viewers can dive even deeper into the history of the entertainers with exclusive bonus footage and a panel discussion during our virtual fundraiser on Friday, September 25 at 6 p.m. Those interested in attending can obtain an access link with a $10 donation to support future local productions, with registration available at vegaspbs.org/showgirl.

Members of the community can also bid in our silent auction with must-have items to support Vegas PBS. They can access the auction here. Bidders will have the chance to win a runway seat to see Michael Bublé in concert, a Les Paul guitar autographed by Joe Bonamassa, VIP tickets to the Lion Habitat Ranch, art pieces, and certificates for dining, recreation and fitness.

Anyone interested in the unique identity of Las Vegas will not want to miss the opportunity to watch this local production and participate in the special events. As Las Vegas and the world go through unprecedented hardship, it’s now as important as ever to celebrate the unique, local identity that makes Las Vegas the entertainment capital of the world.
