Part of grant-funded initiative to extend educational resources to underserved communities

As part of Vegas PBS’ dedication to provide educational resources to underserved communities through its Ready To Learn Community Collaborative for Early Learning and Media (CC-ELM) grant, a new PBS KIDS play area has been installed at the Las Vegas Urban League, 2470 N Decatur Blvd. This is the fifth PBS KIDS Play Area installed by Vegas PBS.

In partnership with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), Vegas PBS’ Ready To Learn program was awarded a four-year grant to advance new tools supporting personalized and adaptive content for children and parents, establish a network of community collaboratives and conduct efficacy research on the educational resources provided.

The newest play area is equipped with PBS KIDS themed interactive toys, books and information regarding free technological resources promoting STEM learning, entering the workforce and other parenting resources.

Vegas PBS has previously installed four other PBS KIDS Play Areas in Las Vegas:
  • Consulate of Mexico, 823 S. Sixth Street
  • Consulate of El Salvador, 765 N. Nellis Blvd.
  • Legal Aid of Southern Nevada, 725 E. Charleston Blvd.
  • Las Vegas Urban League, 3320 E. Flamingo Road #52
