LAS VEGAS, NV – In partnership with each other and every community in Nevada, Vegas PBS and The Nevada Independent are continuing their new media initiative focused on civic engagement and inclusive community conversations, the Nevada Democracy Project. The partnership aspires to close a widening gap in Nevadans’ understanding of and engagement in local and state government.
As part of the Nevada Democracy Project, Vegas PBS and The Nevada Independent have teamed up for regular community listening sessions and from those conversations will seek to understand community needs and provide in-depth news coverage on the channels of both organizations. The first Community Listening Session, held at the West Charleston Library in November 2023, generated a thought-provoking and spirited conversation that touched on issues of racism and its effects on urban development, law enforcement and more. The town hall environment is an engaging atmosphere that empowers all citizens to make themselves heard.
Residents of Nevada and members of the media are invited to the second Community Listening Session:
Tuesday, February 13, 2024 — 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
CSN Charleston Campus
Student Union Ballrooms U126 and U128
