Visitor Gateway | Outdoor Nevada Presents Tales from the Trails
SEASON 1: EPISODE 2 | 9/30/2023
The Spring Mountain Recreation Area is only a short drive from Las Vegas and it’s a great way to start hiking. It offers a break from the heat and an amazing change in scenery. Today, we are going to explore an easy hike, that is a great introduction to get you out on the trails.
Before you go hiking, stop and remove potential invasive species from your shoes by using the boot brush. The brush takes plant seeds and spores off your hiking boots and helps keep out species that don’t belong on Mt. Charleston.
The area was once a golf course, which is why some trails are paved or hard packed gravel. Despite the relative ease of the trail, it is still important to wear proper shoes, bring enough water and watch the weather.
Maria’s Trail Tips
