The Vegas PBS Playful Learning for Educators cohort empowers childcare providers with tools, skills, and confidence to support children’s learning and development. Participants receive a PBS KIDS Science Box, containing materials needed to conduct a media-rich, play-based science experience with the children in their care.

What do the workshops cover?

Introduction Playful Learning with Media (3 hours), Session 1, introduces how PBS KIDS content can support early learning objectives and knowledge goals when integrated into playful learning experiences.

Integrating Media into Your Teaching Practice (3 hours), through scaffolded activities in Session 2, educators will explore how PBS KIDS content can deepen children’s understanding of concepts across content areas.

Inquiry Practices with The Cat in the Hat (3 hours), Session 3 focuses on scientific inquiry, curiosity and creativity-building while engaging with PBS KIDS content.

The Engineering Design Process with Ruff Ruffman (3 hours), Session 4 provides educators with an opportunity to work their way through the full Engineering process in a hands-on, playful, collaborative and contextually meaningful way using Ruff Ruffman.

PBS KIDS Edcamp is a FREE, unique, participant-driven, “unconference" for early childhood educators. Session topics are generated by participants prior to the Edcamp.

Share ideas about what you want to discuss and learn, and together with your peers, decide what topics will be covered! Expertise is derived from collective and collaborative conversation.

What to expect:

• All topics are generated collaboratively by participants through Eventbrite.
• Presentations will include discussion, conversation, and environmental arrangement for early childhood success.
• Participants will provide input for future presentations.
